Spiritual heritage of the Hungarians from Țara Bârsei, Brașov county

The csango villages of Barcasag are a special spot on the ethnical map of Transilvania, collecting an outstanding spiritual heritage during the past. This spiritual cultural heritage could be: spoken traditions or a form of expression, traditional performance, social habits and rituals, festive events, the knowledge in connection with nature and universe, and at last but not least the knowledge and skill which is important for the production of the traditional products. The Hungarian-csango villages of Barcasag are mirroring the universal Hungarian culture. Our tapestries were searched in the whole Europe in centuries XIX-XX., we are rich in Easter egg motifs (approximate 150 motifs) and the image of our settlement reflects the sense of beauty of our fathers. Our gable ornaments, gates, folk architecture, traditional costumes, the dance, our painted furnitures, etc are the evidence of the remained heritage.

Spiritual heritage

Old, traditional profession: carriage

In addition to logging and farming, the main occupation of the Csángo's was carriage, and they carried the trade in and out Brașov, as far as Istanbul or Vienna.

The rooster shooting

Rooster shooting - the general tradition of Barcaság (Țara Bârsei) - remained alive today only at Apáca (Apața). On Easter Sunday, it is worth visiting Apáca to become part of a living tradition.

Folk costumes

A bouquet of colors from the long skirt to the popular Saxon harbor, which in turn was taken over by the inhabitants of the Barcaság (Țara Bârsei) from the Hungarian Renaissance era.

The “Borica” dance

The "Borica" dance from the Seven Villages is an archaic man dance. Today it is practiced only in Tatrang (Tărlungeni), Zajzon (Zizin), Pürkerec (Purcăreni).

Pottery in Satu Nou (Barcaújfalu)

Satu Nou (Barcaújfalu) the biggest pottery center in Țara Bârsei (Barcaság) was once, today there are few or no pottery pots.
